Playgroup Christmas Party

We had a Christmas party for our playgroup this year complete with cookie exchange for the parents and a white elephant gift exchange. We dressed all of the little ones in Christmas outfits. Jack originally had a little Christmas onesie that I planned to put him in but that morning when I tried to put it on it was too small! This seems to be a theme these days! Luckily we had a back up outfit!

Hahaha! I just had to post this as it was pretty hilarious. He was like a little stuffed sausage!

Almost all of the little ones! So neat to see them sitting (sort of) all together.

Christmas Tree

Jack came with us to get our Christmas tree from Home Depot. Not really the whole Christmas-ey chopping down the tree that one might imagine but we figured he wouldn't remember this year anyways. Maybe next year we'll venture out of the city and find a real Christmas Tree Farm!

Thanksgiving

This year Thanksgiving was spent with Jeff's family. As usual Sue did a wonderful job and all of the food was delicious!
Having a good laugh with GG!

Dachenhaus Cousin Time!

Jeff's aunt and uncle were in town so Jeff's parents drove up and brought Sequoia and Kai so we had all 5 Dachenhaus cousins together! What a fun time that is!

Kaitlyn loves "Baby Jack" and always wants to hold him. Luckily Anna is there to lend a supportive hand!

Justin and Jack having a stare down.

The 5 kids posing for Papa John and Grandy's Christmas photo.

With Papa John aka the original "J.D."

This is an active bunch, but the lure of TV seems to slow them down.

Jack with his Great Aunt Denise and Great Uncle Bubby
We had a great time getting together with all of Jack's cousins. They are all so sweet to Jack and want to hold him. Jack loved watching them run around the house and wrestle. It was Dachenhaus Mania at Anna's! Clearly we need to bulk the little guy up so one day soon he can play with them too!

Jack is now out of our bedroom and is sleeping upstairs in his crib! Woo hoo!

Activity Mat Time

Lately, Jack likes to spend time on his activity mat. He's started noticing the different animals that are hanging and loves the crinkling sound of the elephant's ear. It's nice to be able to put him down and have him entertain himself for at least a few minutes! Although his preference is that you get down on the ground with him!

Playgroup

Jack and I have been lucky to have found a great playgroup through Golden Gate Mother's Group. There are about 10 of us all with babies that were born around the same time. We meet every Friday and it's such a great time to get together with other moms and babies. Right now of course the kids don't interact much but in the next few months I'm sure that will change.

Not too easy to get them all on one couch together!
Jack decided to take a little snooze on his buddy Olivia.

Happy Halloween!

After my cousin Nick's wedding in the Bay Area, Jack and I drove down with my parents to Santa Barbara so we could spend Halloween down there.

I made Jack and his cousin Kendall matching sushi costumes. Kendall is a tuna roll and Jack is a salmon roll each with their own side of ginger and wasabi!

"There, there, Jack, don't cry!"
At my dad's work the main office decorates for Halloween and all of the staff dress up. People can bring their kids in and they hand out candy. So of course my dad had to bring the grandkids in and dressed up with them too!

Grandpa the sushi chef with his sushi and fireman!
Yum! I love salmon rolls!

Grandma the cat and a hungry Kendall!
That night Jack dressed up in his skeleton costume and made it out to just a few of the neighbors for trick or treating to say hi. No candy for him yet!

Let's Go To Work!

Jack and I met Jeff at his office to go out to lunch. He got all dressed up in one of his tie onesies so he could be just like his daddy!

Just because you look good, doesn't always mean you feel good.

Pumpkin Patch

Before leaving Santa Barbara we stopped by Lane Farms Pumpkin Patch with my sister's family to take some pics of the kids.

Pretty ladies!

This will be much easier once they can sit on their own!

Grandma has her arms full!

Summerland

While we were in Santa Barbara we took a little break from all of the family and went down to the Summerland condo. The weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed some winetasting at Summerland Winery.

With the warm sunshine and ocean breeze naps were in order for the whole family!
You'd never know it was October!

Santa Barbara Visit

Jack took his first visit down to Santa Barbara to meet his extended families. We were a little worried how he would do on the 5 hour drive down but thankfully he was a total champ and slept almost the whole way!

This was the first time that Jack was able to meet my sister, Ashley and her family and they were so excited to meet him! Her son Daniel had been preparing for Jack's arrival by separating all of his toys into piles for "Baby Jack" to play with.
Jack with his cousins on my side: Kendall 5 mos and Daniel 3. Not so easy to get a picture of them together!
Jack and his "Tai Tai" (Great Grandma in Chinese)

Life is exhausting for these two!

Ashley's got her hands full with these two! They are so much fun!

What a great week in Santa Barbara we had! Jack also got to meet his GG (Jeff's Granny) which he just adored as well as Auntie Pam who is always a fan favorite! Sadly I didn't have my camera with me so I can't post any pics from this but I think his Grandy got some great shots of them!

Oktoberfest!

This weekend we took Jack to Oktoberfest in San Francisco. The annual festival is held at one of the old hangers on a pier near the ballpark. We met some of our friends at the festival to enjoy some refreshing German beer, authentic food and of course the Oompah band.
Jack was about the same size of the stein of beer
Ken was willing to share his beer (he may be German but let's wait a few years Ken)
I planned ahead and pumped so that I could partake in the activities as well
A fun outing for the whole family!

One Month Old!

Today Jack is one month old! How much has changed in just one short month! We now operate in 3 hour increments (feedings) and sleep is a hot commodity around our house. Jack has also developed quite a bit and it is such a joy to spend happy awake time with him (awake upset time not so much) where he can hold your gaze and occasionally smile!

He has also done many things in just this month. Some noteworthy milestones: his first NFL game, Happy Hour with some of Jeff's clients, joined a mommy and me group where he now has new friends and out to dinner for Chad's 30th birthday (slept through the whole thing). Often times when Jeff and I have him out at various places such as Starbucks, the grocery store, or running errands strangers will approach us and tell us how brave we are for venturing out with him or tell us of how scared they were with their newborns. For us we find these comments a little odd. Of course it is important to keep newborns protected etc. but come on people we've got to eat and I think we would all go insane if we just stayed in the house! Plus Jack seems to like venturing out so hopefully his willingness to accompany us places continues.

Jack favorites this month are car rides (although the Prius is sometimes too quite when it shuts off at lights), walks in the stroller, sleeping in the sling or bjorn, sleeping with someone holding him and of course eating.

Here are a few photos from the first month!

Hi! I'm one month old today!
We look forward to what new adventures his second month of life will bring!

Cowboys Game!

Sunday the 49ers were playing the Cowboys and we were lucky enough to get tickets to the game. Jack was excited to wear his Cowboys onesie from his Auntie Ashley's family.
We started off the day with a little bit of tailgating.
The seats were great although we were right in the sun!

Jack was nice and safe in his sling.

Family pic!
The trip to the game was a success and Jack slept through most of it. We lasted until the middle of the 3rd quarter when it got a bit too hot and somebody was starting to get hungry. I think Jack was a good luck charm for the Cowboys since they ended up winning the game!
